Our Japanese handcrafted Matcha bowl "Nara" comes from the well-known Studio Maruyoshi. The Maruyoshi studio is located in Gifu Prefecture, which is particularly known for the production of Matcha bowls and artistic stoneware. The famous stoneware from the southeast of this region is called Mino-Yaki and is not only popular with connoisseurs.
“Nara” is a very natural-looking, salmon-stone-gray tea bowl that is placed on a pottery wheel in the for Matcha bowls usual "Ido shape" is rotated. Compared to the classic “Wan shape”, the “Ido shape” has a slightly smaller bowl bottom and is even more expansive at the top. The Matcha bowl "Nara" is refined during the artistic production with a special glaze called "Kohiki glaze". This decoration method, originally from Korea, gives the bowl a semi-transparent, slightly shimmering surface and thus a special aesthetic.
The bowl has a diameter of approx. 12,5 cm, a height of approx. 7,5 cm and a capacity of approx. 400 ml.
